It is very common for individuals with a temporary status to apply for an extension of their status. You must apply for an extension at least 30 days before your current status expires. This program is for those who want to:

​If you plan on leaving Canada and returning, you should apply for a Visitor Visa instead of a Visitor Record. When applying for an extension as a visitor, you are given a Visitor Record, which does not guarantee your return to Canada after leaving.​
